OVO Charge Anytime EV Tariff Review 2026
OVO's smart-scheduled EV add-on: 14p/kWh PAYG or four monthly plans (£27.50–£79.50) bundling miles, a public-charging voucher and charger cover.

Pros
- Smart-scheduled charging works any time of day — useful for shift workers and households who can't always plug in overnight
- Monthly plans bundle a £120–£240/year public-charging voucher (OVO Charge app, 400,000+ EU charge points) — meaningful for drivers doing material public-network mileage
- All monthly plans include EV charger cover (insurance) — OVO is the only major EV-tariff provider currently bundling this
- No long-term contract — switch between plans or back to PAYG at any time
- PAYG option means no commitment if home charging needs are variable month-to-month
Cons
- PAYG rate doubled from 7p/kWh to 14p/kWh on 4 November 2025 — now ~2.5× the rate of Intelligent Octopus Go after the April 2026 cut
- Discount applies only to the EV charging session — non-EV electricity stays on the standard home unit rate, so dishwasher/heat-pump shifting doesn't pay back the way it does on whole-home off-peak tariffs
- Monthly-plan overage reverts to the standard home unit rate (typically 25–35p/kWh), not the 14p PAYG rate — high-mileage drivers can lose the headline saving fast
- No integrated solar or battery-storage support — solar households are better served by Octopus's Outgoing Octopus pairing
- Effective per-kWh cost on monthly plans is 15–17p before voucher value — only competitive if you also use the bundled public charging credit
