Intelligent Octopus Go EV Tariff Review

Octopus Energy's flagship EV tariff: 6.99p/kWh off-peak whole-home (23:30-05:30 plus smart top-ups), with the 6-hour Charge Cap since March 2026.

4.5 / 5
Outstanding

Strengths

  • Off-peak rate 6.99p/kWh as of July 2026 - among the cheapest in the UK
  • Cheap rate applies to your whole home during the 6-hour window, not just the EV
  • Works with Ohme, Andersen, Wallbox, Hypervolt, Zappi and Octopus Charge

Watch outs

  • From March 2026 only the first 6 hours of nightly charging are at the off-peak rate; further charging falls back to the higher Boost rate
  • Requires an SMETS2 (or compatible SMETS1) smart meter and a smart EV charger that supports Octopus's intelligent scheduling
  • Daytime/peak rate of around 32p/kWh is unremarkable - the savings rely on shifting most usage to overnight
  • Off-peak rate (July 2026) 6.99p/kWh (varies by Ofgem cap window and DNO region)
  • Off-peak window 23:30–05:30 (6 hours)
  • Peak/day rate ~32p/kWh average
  • Off-peak applies to Whole home (not just EV charging)
